Installation testing within the industry is also referred to as 'fixed wire testing' or 'electrical installation testing'. In many businesses is also referred to as 'periodic testing'. This is not to be confused with PAT Testing, which is the testing of portable appliances.

At PASS FM we offer a installation testing service that can either be part of another general servicing contract, like PAT Testing, or can be a standalone service from ourselves.

What is involved in Installation Testing?

Installation testing involves the inspection, testing and certification of the installed electrical circuits within your buildings and offices.

All our tests are carried out with state of the art testing equipment. We use automatic barcode scanners for easy annual documentation and reporting, and thus making the paper work end of the inspection more accurate and maintainable. We can provide photographic evidence of damage against any testing record, and our industry leading testing appliances are calibrated regularly to guarantee accurate results.

The Visual Inspection by our Technicians

• We make sure that the buildings/offices have an adequate first aid kit and located appropriately.
• We carry out a visual inspection of the electrical installation within your office.
  This includes the mains distribution equipment and an examination for excessive heat or any loose connections using our state of the art thermal imaging cameras.
• We also perform a visual electrical inspection by doing a 'walkabout'.
  This involved a general walk through your buildings and offices to look for obvious faults, excessive use of extension leads, use of wrong leads and so forth.
• Mechanically test residual-current device (RCDs) to visual see if they are working correctly and are in good condition.
• We then finally perform a visual electrical inspection of specific equipment highlighted by yourself as unique or specific to your business/offices.

Basic Installation Testing (Electrical Inspection and Test)

• Electrical load check, RCD tests, incoming earth loop (Ze), the mains voltage on all phases
• Testing and certification of the installed electrical circuits within your buildings and offices
